Chiropractic Marketing 101

What you most likely didn't learn about chiropractic marketing in chiropractic school: No matter the location or size of your clinic, or the relative success you've experienced to this point in your career, I would be willing to bet a pretty penny that you probably have at least some attention on the number of new patients in your practice. In my years of putting 100% of my attention into the area of chiropractic marketing and new patient acquisition, I have some gems to help you fast forward to a new level of patients that you serve in your practice.

Before I go too deep into the technology of chiropractic marketing, I want to first let you know why I have a fascination with chiropractic new patients procedures. In my practice, I have spent the last 6-7 years solely working 'on' my practice, rather than 'in' my practice. What I mean by that is that I have put in place specific executive tools that have enabled me to be anywhere I want, whether it be at home, on a vacation or in a coffee shop masterminding, and my practice will actually grow in my absence (currently statistics: averages 22 new patients per week and serves over 500 patients per week). This is certainly not to boast, but simply to show you what is possible in the owning and operating a chiropractic 'business' rather than just a 'clinic'. It is not magic, just simply application of some solid, proven business systems.

Anyway, my point being, I have had endless amount of time over the past 7 years fully committed to piloting and testing new chiropractic marketing methods, techniques and programs. In my journey and experimentation I came across some very specific points that I feel are extremely important and must be understood for a chiropractic marketing program to succeed for long-term growth of the office.

Chiropractic Marketing 101

Here are some things you should know about chiropractic marketing and attracting new patients into your office:

There is an exact technology on how to attract new patients into a chiropractic office.
You just need to learn it and apply it. The better that you and your staff are trained on chiropractic marketing and new patient acquisition, the more control you will have over the number of new patients your practice gets.
Every factor limiting the number of new patients you currently get is an internal factor-meaning it's not because of the economy, or your town, or anything else outside of your practice. This is good because it means you have control and can be 'at cause' over the expansion.
Any chiropractor can learn how to get high numbers of new patients on a consistent basis. We have proven this at the Chiropractic Business Academy...even if you 'hate' doing the chiropractic marketing!
If you feel your service is valuable, you should share it with more people! We need more chiropractors serving more people to help them heal and grow naturally with the chiropractic wellness lifestyle. I am sure you agree that our current national healthcare system is not healthcare at all.

Chiropractic Marketing Has a Recipe

Some doctors are surprised to learn that there are exact formulas and strategies that will literally guarantee you see more new patients. I teach these exact chiropractic marketing strategies to my clients through the Chiropractic Business Academy Marketing Courses, through the Academy Workshops and One on One Consulting. Although the exact marketing strategies are reserved for our clients, I can share with you some basics.

Your marketing success starts with your viewpoint on chiropractic marketing. To find out what your current viewpoint on chiropractic marketing is at this moment, try this simple exercise:

Write down in single words or short phrases how you feel about 'marketing' your practice. Successful chiropractic marketing is going to require application. So, you can start now by doing this exercise. Please take a minute and write down your feelings about marketing, before reading on.

Take a look at what you wrote. Do your responses indicate that you are excited about introducing chiropractic to new people? Can you see evidence in your responses of back-off to creating a strong marketing effort? If so, you'd really benefit from handling those points.

One of the most effective ways to change your viewpoint is to acquire correct data in that area. The more you know about chiropractic marketing for instance, the more logical your conclusions will be when making marketing decisions. And let's face it, if you know how to be successful at something, don't you feel better about it?

A rock-solid chiropractic marketing program has multiple sources, or we refer to them as Legos, of new patients coming into your office. For example, our Signature marketing courses and webinars cover over 40 ways to market a practice. Knowing and understanding multiple techniques makes it easy to attract 60, 80 or 100 new patients per month, or more.

Chiropractic Marketing Foundations

Here are some examples of a couple foundational approaches our clients use:

A program or method to acquire as many names and phone numbers of local people as possible. To do this we teach our Public Gift Certificate program. This specific technique has 5 different approaches and gives our clients endless leads to contact for introductory services. What form of introductory service can you provide to the public? How can you make that introductory service known to the demographic that you want to attract to your office?
Multiple strong Business to Business, or corporate programs. This is an alliance with a local business or major corporation which allows you to farm leads from their clientele or employees. We teach numerous ways to do this including Lunch Lectures, Corporate Massage programs, Wellness Events and other introductory programs. The key is to offer a truly valuable introductory service as businesses will literally be calling you to come over!
An Internal Referral Program. This should be a truly engaging, active, strategic (and fun) activity. In communicating with each patient you must direct their attention in a very precise manner-for instance, using symptoms, conditions or circumstances. Each week or every other week providing a new viewpoint on a specific unwanted condition. Your goal is to get a name AND contact information of the referred person with that unwanted condition-so you can mail them more information about their symptom or condition, as well as invite the referral into your practice.

No matter the target audience or the strategy used, there are some key factors on which to build a consistent chiropractic marketing effort:

Structure each chiropractic marketing activity so that it can be done by a non-doctor. This will allow you to pass the activity to another staff member and you can further your progress of becoming the CEO or executive director of your 'business' rather than running every single activity in a one-man/woman-show 'clinic' (we have all been there before!).
The more you market, the more new patients you will have. There is actually a direct quantifiable relationship between the number of hours and attention allocated to chiropractic marketing and the number of new patients a practice sees.
Whatever chiropractic marketing you do must communicate a concept which the consumer will understand and be interested in.

This last point is one of the most important but least understood aspects of chiropractic marketing. Additionally, to separate your identity from the other handful, dozens or even hundreds of chiropractors in your city, town or valley, you must clearly establish your uniqueness alongside with this concept.

As you become more established with your 'Legos' of chiropractic marketing you see this pay off for the long-term. What makes you different from the other chiropractors in your area?

Board Games

"Water Brigade" For their first high priority assignment, your unit must put out a fire that is destroying civilian crops! Divide the soldiers into two teams; line the teams up next to each other. Put a bucket full of water at the head of each line and give the first person in each line a large cup full of water. Place an empty bucket for each team about 35 ft away. Blow a whistle or say "GO!" the first person runs to the empty bucket, pours the water into it, and races back to their team with the empty cup. They should pass off the cup to the next teammate who fills the cup, runs to the bucket, pours the water in it and brings the cup back for the next player. When each team member has run down and back the game is over. To see which team has carried the most water down, insert sticks into each bucket and compare the water lines.

Ultimate Army Themed Games & Activities for Your Child's Birthday Party

"Drill Sergeant Says" This is a simple game of Simon with a twist of Army. Next you are going to need a Drill Sergeant. Any volunteers? Oh yes, we have the honorary Mom and Dad. Try and dress up with a hat, sunglasses and shaved head. To play the game, the Drill Sergeant will give commands like: Drill Sergeant Says run for 10 seconds! You can have them respond with a Yes Drill Sergeant. If the Drill Sergeant didn't say "Drill Sergeant Says" and a few kids keep doing the commands, they have to go down for a few pushups. This really gives the kids the feel of Army-like drills!!

"Pack Up Relay" Find or borrow full size backpacks and things that would go inside (canteens, compass, pack of food, plate, etc). You will need one pack per team and one item per person. Have the teams line up with their pack. The first person must run to the pile of item #1 with the pack on, take the pack off, put the item into the pack, put the pack back on and run back to their team. Continue this until each child has picked up at least one item. The kids will love this game because they get to work as a team.

"Missing In Action (MIA)" Hide plastic Army Men outside and inform your soldiers that there are some fellows Soldiers Missing In Action. Send your soldiers out on a Top Secret Mission to locate and bring back as many plastic Army Men as they can find. You can keep score by how many they bring back.

"The Balloon Pop" This is a perfect game to get the kids to interact with each other more. Before the party, blow up a bunch of balloons and put a piece of paper inside that has different instructions, such as, "Do 10 Push-ups", "Run 2 Laps", "Do 15 Jumping Jacks", "Tell another soldier to do 15 Jumping Jacks", "Just got Promoted", etc. The kids will love the anticipation of popping a balloon and finding out what their orders are. Have fun and be creative.

"Rescue the Injured Soldier" Divide up the soldiers into two teams. Provide each team with a gurney (tarp or beach towel) and a roll of toilet paper. One person on the team will be the "Injured Soldier" and should be positioned about 40 yards from his teammates. When you say, "Go" the team runs across the yard to their injured soldier. They first wrap up the injured soldier in toilet paper, then transfer him to the gurney and finally transport him back to their starting position (I would suggest having one child hold a corner). This game is guaranteed to be loads of fun!

"Mine Field" Start out by placing a bunch of water balloons in the yard and blindfolding each soldier. Have them try and walk across the minefield without breaking any balloons.

"Grenade Toss" Before the party, construct some bean bags out of camo fabric and fill them up with rice. You could also purchase beanbags at your local party or fabric store. Place to cement blocks about 3 feet apart and place board on them. Next, setup of different types and sizes of pop bottles for the targets. Give the soldiers the beanbags and let them take aim. Try different distances to increase the difficulty.

"Water Grenade War" Begin by constructing two barricades for the children to hide behind (these can be made out of cardboard and spray painted for effect). Give the kids the balloons and watch the fun unfold before your eyes. Just remember, you can't have too many grenades!

"Obstacle Course" I would suggest placing this game last in your order of Birthday Party Games. This will be the most challenging and exciting. Here are few ideas on different obstacles you could incorporate into your Ultimate Course. Use a board as a plank to run across a water obstacle or between to cement blocks. Get some tires for the soldiers to step or run through. Use 5 gallon buckets with poles taped across for the soldiers to crawl under. Make some obstacles the soldiers can run and weave around, such as, garbage cans or buckets. Throw in some physical exercises like jumping jacks and pushups. While the soldiers are running through the obstacle, make sure you are acting just like a Drill Sergeant. There should be lots of yelling and encouragement. You could also be shooting a water gun at them or throwing water grenades. This should be the Ultimate game, so take your time designing the course and have fun!

Story Of St. Nicholas

Board Games

Read stories and talk about Saint Nicholas. He lived about 300 years after Jesus. Nicholas lived in a town called Myra. When he grew up, he became a priest. Nicholas loved children. Once he heard about a poor family in town with no money for food or clothing. Nicholas left a bag of money on the door step one night. He came back two more times and on the third time, the father saw Nicholas leaving the bag of money.

3 Great Preschool St Nicholas Day Activities

Later, Nicholas became the Bishop of Myra. He continued to care for children and poor families. Because of all the good works he did, Nicholas became a saint. Eventually, he got the name Santa Claus. Letters to Santa

All children enjoy writing letters to Santa. It's a Christmas tradition. There are many ways you can do this. One is for each child to dictate his or her wish list and you write it for them. They can then decorate the page with Christmas drawings. Have the children sign their names to the list. Make a mailbox out of a large card board box and let the kids mail their letters.

Another way to do this is to give the children a variety of toy catalogs and advertisements. Let them find the few toys they want most and cut out the pictures. They can then glue these pictures to the paper. Let them decorate their letters and sign their names. These can also be placed in envelopes and mailed in the mail box.

What Is St. Nicholas Bringing?

The children will enjoy pretending to be St. Nicholas with this fun game. This can be played at circle time. You will need: a variety of toys from around the classroom and a sack. The sack can be any bag or can be made from a red velvet material. Any cloth bag can be used, if you don't want to sew a sack.

Lay out a variety of toys in the middle of the room. Let the kids look at them for a few minutes before you remove them. Choose a child to be St. Nicholas. This child will choose a toy and put it in the bag while the rest of the children close their eyes. The kids will then guess which toy is in the bag. This can be done by having St. Nicholas give the other children clues about the toy. A fun variation is to let the kids feel the outside of the bag and guess by touch. The child who guesses right is next to be St. Nick.

Horsing Around with Replay

The early mornings at Churchill Downs have been very busy as preparations for the Breeders' Cup World Championships are well underway. Most of the contenders are already on the grounds putting in their final preparations with a few preferring to stay home in New York and California until the last possible minute. Not all horses take to certain racing surfaces, so the preference of many trainers is to allow their horse as much time as they need to get familiar with all their surroundings. On the other hand, some trainers think they can accomplish more without all the distractions that come along with this week and ship to Churchill later. Horse racing is not an exact science; so to say one way is better than the other is unsubstantiated. Whichever horse has the flower bed draped over him or her after they win the race was the one prepared the "right way," for this year anyway.

Trainers are just like coaches in that they respond to media questions with the most obvious and cliché answers. As sports handicappers, our job lies in reading between the lines in order to gain an edge in the point spread. Handicapping horses is no different, especially when analyzing 8 different races at different distances and surfaces involving not only American horses, but also those from England, France, and Ireland. The Breeders' Cup attracts a huge following, and the amount of money wagered by these unsophisticated players on-track and others around the world makes these races exceptional overlays. Those of us who follow the sport year round have a decided edge over the general public, and when the media over-hypes certain contenders our edge increases even more.

I follow horse racing all year long. I don't come out of the woodwork like others when the big races roll around. I come from a horse racing family with many years of experience on the backside. If you read my write-up recommending Bernardini to win the Preakness below, you can see just how much research I put into this. I play nothing but long shots, and to profit at the horses playing that way you only need to be right 30% of the time, not the 52.4% needed to win betting sports at -110. I had success in last year's Cup with winners of .50 and .60, and I hope this year brings along those good fortunes once again. The Form is calling.

Horsing Around with Replay

# 8 Bernardini (8-1): Lightly raced colt is trained by conservative, yet effective Thomas Albertrani. After serving as head assistant to Bill Mott for 9 years, Albertrani was hired by Godolphin Racing in 1995 and moved to Dubai as an assistant to trainer Saeed bin Suroor. While there, Albertrani learned a new training philosophy which counters the American way. It says to take royally bred horses, teach them at 2, and then began racing them at 3. The idea being that the horses will be more productive from the get-go while keeping them fresher in order to get max potential in every race they run. Since returning in 2003, Albertrani adopted this strategy and he currently employs these tactics as a private trainer for today's owner, Darley Stable.

The above is the exact course taken by Bernardini who has just 3 races under his belt heading into today. His sire is A.P. Indy and his grand sire is the great Seattle Slew, making Bernardini the best bred horse in the field by a landslide. That includes heavy favorite Barbaro, who's breeding is impeccable for turf racing, not dirt. In his debut on January 7th, Bernardini faced a field of 11 in a 6 furlong sprint, losing by 5 1/4 lengths. He broke out 9th after a slow start, and was just 3 1/4 lengths behind at the top of the stretch before tiring and finishing 4th. The winner of that race, Exclusive Quality, has won twice since, including the Spectacular Bid Stakes. His second race came two months later on March 4th. This time, Albertrani stretched him out to a flat mile and Bernardini won going away by 7 3/4 lengths. Again he had gate trouble, this time hitting it on the way out. He went off as the favorite and beat a solid field that day, including the .8 million dollar purchase High Finance. Most impressive was the fact that Bernardini pulled away by more than 3 lengths in the stretch in his first route race after coming off a 2 month layoff. His last race came in the Grade 3 Withers at Aqueduct in which he won by 3 3/4 lengths despite the jock losing his whip in the stretch. It was just a four horse race, but he ran a flat mile in a fast 1:35 and that is the fastest time run by anyone in this field at that distance. He earned a 104 Beyer which is the best last race number besides Barbaro's 111 earned in the Derby.

Bernardini will be stalking the three speed horses Like Now, Brother Derek, and Diabolical from the second flight. Also in that pack will be Barbaro, but Bernardini has the advantage of being on the outside which will allow him to get first jump on the speed on the far turn. At the top of the stretch, Bernardini will be in an ideal position to spring the upset. Unlike many in here, Bernardini is bred to run all day long and the added distance should be welcomed as his 409 Tomlinson number suggests. As mentioned above, trainer Albertrani is conservative, yet effective. He's saddled just 71 horses this year, winning 16 races for 23%. In graded stakes, he's sent 16 to post and won 5 of those races for 31% with an ROI of .19. These numbers prove that his horses are live every time they run, and he's not running them just to run. Bernardini is our selection to dethrone Barbaro in The 131st Preakness Stakes. Play Bernardini across the board; Win, Place, and Show.

The above should prove that I know a little something about horses. Bernardini won easy at odds of 12-1. Forget about playing him in this year's Classic. Yes, he looks to be unbeatable on paper but at odds of somewhere in the 3-5 range, you can have him. Do not leave him off your Pick 3's and 4's but as far as that race goes, he'll be underneath others only. My clients and I made our score with him and now it's time to find the next Bernardini. The Form is still calling...

Replay. Some like it. Some don't. As sports bettors, we fall into both categories depending upon if the reversal or lack thereof helps our chances to win a bet. Looking at this from a fan's perspective, I have some problems with the college replay system. The Texas / Texas Tech game was almost unbearable to watch despite it being a heck of a game that also had some financial interest riding on Tech. It seemed like every other play was being reviewed which slowed the game down way too much. There were 5 guys in the replay booth at Tech, and they still blew numerous calls. Five guys in the booth, but only one at the GT / Miami Fla game and he must have been on a piss break when there was no review on an INT (see write-up). The college system needs to adapt the NFL's system which only reviews plays that have a coach's challenge unless there's less than two minutes. Go out and hire competent officials or revise the replay system. It's that simple.

Carcassonne Game

The Carcassonne game is the perfect choice for a board game suitable for the deepest and most serious strategists. This is an award-winning board game gaining the prestigious 2001 Spiel des Jahres award or the German game of the year.

The game was inspired by the ancient city in Southern France during the medieval era. As an overview, the city of Carcassonne was founded and considered a salient trade route that exists between the Atlantic and Mediterranean. The strategic location of the city made it a top priority for many conquerors and rulers making its culture rich with medieval and roman history.

Board Games

The 2000 version of the game has four important contents for the players to use. It has one score table which contains or tracks up to 50 points. It features the important 72 tiles with terrain markings and the 40 wood pieces of followers in five bright and different colors. There is also a four-sheet instruction and guide for newbie and starters.

Carcassonne Game

There is actually no game board required or used for the Carcassonne game. The game board is built through putting the tiles together to form the medieval landscape as the game progresses. It starts with only one terrain tile which faces up and the rest of the 71 tiles shuffled facing down. Each player draws a tile and places it adjacent to the tiles already facing up. It is rule of thumb that the tiles must only connect to the same terrain, for instance, roads to roads, cities to cities, fields to fields and so on.

The Carcassonne game rules allow players the option to place their follower piece on a certain tile. The follower piece could only be stationed on the tile when it was just recently placed. One follower could claim one terrain feature but it could not be placed on terrains which are already owned by other players' followers.

However, the terrains could also be shared after more tiles are placed to complete the features. For instance, if there are fields which are already owned by followers however it is connected to one field, that single field could possibly be owned or "shared" by another follower.

It is quite easy to play the Carcassonne game and it is relatively short and quick to finish. In average, players could finish the game as short as thirty minutes or so. The secret in winning more scores and points is to know just what to conquer or own with your followers.

Remember that you only have limited claim tokens so use them wisely. Conquer more tiles and terrains and get the highest possible score to win the game. Carcassonne game is for the wise and canny strategists. Are you ready to take the challenge?

Before the invention of refrigeration and preservatives, the only way to preserve meat for long periods of time was to dry it into jerky. Drying meat into jerky is possibly the oldest way of preserving meat and jerky dates back to the earliest civilizations.

So by making your own jerky, you not only control the ingredients, you also save money.

Jerky Making: Step-by-Step Instructions
Select a cut of meat. Choosing a lean cut will save time later. For beef jerky, cuts like like sirloin, top round, eye of round, etc. are good choices. You can also use venison or virtually any other type of meat to make jerky. Trim all of the noticeable fat from your cut of meat because any fat will cause the jerky to spoil much faster. Slice your meat into very thin strips from 1/8" to 1/4" thick. Cutting the meat into thin slices dramatically shortens drying time. You can cut jerky with just a knife and cutting board, but there are some convenient tools you can use for slicing meat, such as a Jerky Slicing Tray, a Hand-Crank Manual Jerky Slicer, or an electric meat slicer.
